For my Bachelor's degree I minored in painting. As enjoyable as it is to paint, I never seem to find much time to do it. I mostly work with oil on canvas. Usually I paint with knives instead of brushes. With brushes I could sit there and fuss over thing forever. Knives give me control while adding their own texture to the peice.
